Profiles and outcomes

The professional we train and the competencies you will develop

The professional profile of the Higher Technology in Automation and Instrumentation program is the set of specific competencies identified in the market study, enabling the professional to perform in the labor field through participation in community engagement projects and pre-professional internships in real environments within the technological field of Automation and Instrumentation.

The Technologist in Automation and Instrumentation develops the following competencies as part of their professional profile:

  • Installation, operation, adaptation, maintenance, and commissioning of units, equipment, and electronic automation systems used in business, industrial, or domestic settings.
  • Execution of maintenance in industrial production lines in accordance with occupational safety and health standards, ensuring safe working environments in the performance of their duties and those of their team, with responsibility.
  • Implementation of technologies for the automation of industrial processes.
  • Installation and commissioning of electronic systems applied to industrial control, such as control panels, hardwired logic, PLC-based control, motor and pump control, among others.
  • Provides solutions for electronic systems applied in industrial control, such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and microcontrollers, mastering the logic used in these devices.
  • Implements industrial networks for distributed control systems according to the characteristics of the environment.

The graduate profile of the Higher Technology in Automation and Instrumentation program comprises the set of integrated and coherently organized knowledge oriented toward understanding the various problems and thematic axes of the professional field. To this end, the knowledge and competencies that students must deepen are selected within a theoretical–practical framework, with the aim of developing competencies to be applied in the labor field.

  • Measure physical and chemical variables by selecting the appropriate device for each variable. Installs, operates, adapts, maintains, and commissions units, equipment, and electronic automation systems used in business, industrial, or domestic settings. It performs the control of electrical machines and acquires electrical signals to create virtual instruments.
  • Develops automatic controllers using the existing modules in the institution’s laboratory.
