Insurance Student and Life Accident

Protect your life and studies against accidents.

The personal accident insurance contracted by the University of the Armed Forces ESPE, with the company LATINA DE SEGUROS, for the benefit of the regular undergraduate and graduate students of the University (civilian and military) is intended to cover the death or bodily injury suffered by the insured person on the occasion of an accident covered by the policy. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, anywhere in the world, including hospital loans to students who require hospitalization due to an accident in the clinics and hospitals in which they have agreements.

For the purposes of this insurance, an accident is considered to be any event resulting from an external, violent, unforeseen, fortuitous cause and independent of the insured’s will.

  • It will cover 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, inside and/or outside the institution and anywhere in the world, at no cost, from 12:00 on August 16, 2024, until 12:00 on August 16, 2026. The insured may receive medical attention from any authorized physician or at any hospital, nursing home or clinic.
  • Medical expenses also include X-ray expenses and dental treatment necessary as a result of an accident.
  • The compensation to which the insurance company is obliged will be independent of others contracted individually and/or collectively by the insured.
  • In the event of the accidental death of the person on whom the student is financially dependent, 50% of the coverage for study support will be paid, being two periods.

In the case of military students of the different Special Units, in all cases in which the insurance service contracted by the ESPE is required, the claim must be reported to the Social Work area of their respective Unit, who will be responsible for carrying out the pertinent procedure in terms of required documentation with notification of the claim within a maximum period of 90 working days.

The Social Work area of the Special Units will send the complete documentation to the Social Work area of the ESPE (University Welfare Unit) to carry out the procedure with the insurer and follow up on care and disbursement.

EXCLUSIONS / DEDUCTIBLE

  • The age limit will be up to 70 years old, in case you exceed this age to 75 years old, the payment will be 50% of what you contracted.
  • Injuries intentionally caused by the insured are excluded.
  • Suicide or attempted suicide.
  • No deductible for all coverages.
  • Insurance Company Form (UBUN)
  • Birth certificate of the deceased
  • Certificate of removal of the body, and/or medical certificate
  • Police report
  • Autopsy Certificate
  • Death certificate
  • Copy of the identity card
  • Copy or certificate of enrolment
  • Effective possession of property
  • Legible copies of identity cards of legal heirs.
  • Number of bank accounts of life insurance beneficiaries
  • Insurance company form, signed by the student and the doctor
  • Copy of the student’s ID card
  • Copy of the registration or registration certificate
  • Original electronic invoices that support all expenses incurred and comply with the legal rules of the Internal Revenue Service (SRI).
  • Original prescriptions, original lab test orders, original x-ray orders, with their corresponding original result.
  • Medical certificate with diagnosis.
  • Copy of the Identity Card in whose name the invoices are.
  • In case of an accident Operation, include complete Medical History, Operative Record and Anesthesia.
  • Insurance Company Form
  • Certificate issued by the authorized health center
  • Hospital or clinic report about the disability
  • Certificate of enrollment of the Career to which the student belongs

The HOSPITAL and/or AMBULATORY CREDIT service applies when the insured requires EMERGENCY CARE FOR AN ACCIDENT. To access this service, the member or family member must call 1800-LATINA (528462) option 3 (hospital credit for accident) and indicate the name of the insured and the name of the institution to which he or she belongs, so that our Call Center (24/7 service) directs him or her to a Clinic in agreement, for proper attention in the emergency area. Upon admission, the student must present the ID, student card (optional) and enrollment certificate, obtained from the academic system.

It is important to note the following:

    1. All credits will be in accordance with the conditions and limit of the policy, applying the corresponding deductibles, which in this case is zero.
    2. The credits will be limited solely and exclusively to the emergency due to accidents, understood as any service requested within 24 hours, after the occurrence of the event.
    3. Any consultation or treatment required, after 24 hours of the event occurring, either for first care or as a follow-up, will have to be handled via reimbursement.
    4. An accident will be considered to be “any bodily injury suffered involuntarily by the Insured, directly caused by external, violent, fortuitous and unforeseen events that occur while the coverage in their favor is in force and that requires medical attention. All bodily injuries suffered by a person in the same accident shall be considered as a single event.”
    5. Only credits that are for events as a result of an accident will be awarded; (MEDICAL EXPENSES FOR ILLNESS DO NOT APPLY).
